A little about me
01.
I’m Susie
I was raised in the Adelaide Hills on a beef cattle farm. It's not until now (I'm an adult) that I truly appreciate how lucky I was to grow up with paddocks, space and fresh air all around me.
It was hard being so far away from my friends and having to commute an hour each way to school, but looking back now, I wouldn't change it.
I have a super supportive husband, and a young daughter who is my most favourite person in the whole world! (and my favourite to photograph!)
We have a very 'special' dog called Kevin. If you've met him, you'll know exactly why I refer to him as special!!
I love going to the beach and adventuring around the state, but I'm also a homebody and would gladly stay home most days of the week!

I love animals
Give me alllll the animals!
I especially love wombats, elephants and dogs, but honestly, I'll take anything!!
I've had pets my whole life - mainly dogs - but also farm animals of all sorts!
My sister and I were frequently coming home with rescued creatures; magpies, turtles, fruit bats, stray kittens, baby mice (mum wasn't very happy about this one!!)
My dream is to one day have my own hobby farm where I can grow food, take photos and wander the paddocks with my random flock of friends (cows, chickens, sheep, goats, alpacas, dogs, maybe a donkey or 2!).
The absolute dream!!
Animals are also one of my most favourite things to photograph!
And I LOVE it when families request their dog join in on their session. They are a part of the family after all!!

Travel
My love of photography really began on my first trip overseas, and has blossomed every trip since. I'm so lucky to have been to so many amazing places, and have thousands of photos from each one.
All my holidays are planned around the animals that live there!!
I'm not so much into architecture and history, but give me some stunning landscapes, native wildlife and a hike or two, and I'll be the happiest traveller you'll ever meet!
My favourite places to visit so far would have to be Uganda, Tanzania and The Galapagos Islands - all due to the amazing creatures found in those regions.

Fun Fact
I'm not proud of this, but on one of my overseas trips to South America (in Cusco Peru actually), I wanted to immerse myself in the culture. My friend and I went to a local eatery and I decided to order one of the most emblematic meat dishes of the region, known as Cuy al Horno.
I knew what it was when I ordered it, but thought maybe the presentation would be more subtle and leave a little to the imagination. It wasn't. And it didn't!!
Out of the kitchen it came, the poor morsel lying on top of a bed of potato and salad.
There was no mistaking what it was as it had been cut straight down the middle, length ways - all body parts intact and clearly visible.
I took a small, apprehensive bite and the subtle flavour of chicken came to me. But chicken it was not; a different well loved pet it was....
Guinea pig. I ate guinea pig.
